After doing some research I'm leaning towards getting a Powertouch Motor mover fitted to our S5 Bailey Senator(06). It's a single axle with loaded weight of 1500Kg.
We have an Alko Spare Wheel carrier, jacking points for an Alko side-lifting jack and Alko shocks fitted - would that be a problem.
What is the best price I am likely to get, fitted? I believe that PT do price matching - what do they price match against. I'm thinking of the electronically activated model.
I'm hoping to get it fitted before our Easter break.
We had the Power Touch on our Senator Series 5, with ALKO Spare wheel carrier, fitted no problem at all. Power Touch post your mover to you then a local fitter in your area will call to arrange a fitting date, either at your home or your storage yard or wherever you want really. As for price match, I am not sure what they match against but the 5 year warranty was what convinced me and I have never had to use it in 3 years.

The Powrtouch price match will match any similar unit. I had a pricematch on an Enduro a few years ago against what at that time was the model 3 powrtouch. As the Enduro included cross actuation, the powrbar was included as part of the deal. I understand that in light of an enormous number of people using the price match, unless you are matching againist something with a 5 year warranty, powrtouch will now charge to extend the warranty to five years and only match the warranty of the unit they are matching the price with.
However, given that most other movers have a maximum weight limit of 1800 kg as opposed to 1500 on the Powrtouch, I would be interested if anyone has ever successfully argued that as the Powrtouch is rated at a lower weight than the pricematch, could they have the extra warranty for free to make up for it.
Whilst I can do nothing but recommend Powrtouch for their customer service and quality of the product, given that your van is on the limit of what Powrtouch say their mover is capable of, maybe you should consider one of the cheaper, higher rated alternatives. Towsure have a new one on the market which iirc is rated at 1800kg and the price saving over the Powrtouch is considerable too.
They are not difficult to install yourself either.
Can't comment on the fitting to your van but no problem on mine with a similar set-up underneath. also regarding price and fitting, I looked all over for the best price and pricematch, I then approached my mobile service engineer. He did a deal with Powrtouch on the price and a deal with me on the fitting cost, overall the cheapest I could find.
I agree..decent folk. I had a handset fail and they replaced it in the next post. Unfortunately their engineer couldn't make an appointment before our break...so they kindly talked me through the "handshaking" process that connects a new controller to the reciever module.
It was quite straightforward and worked first time...I wonder if the other manufacturers would have been as accomodating as Powrtouch.....
Others, as said above offer good warranties, and it is this that you should look for. The Powrwheel and the Unipart, both offer parts and labour, whilst the others offer parts only. Parts only is fine if you are DIY minded. but many people are not. With labour included you get someone to come to you, wherever you are and fix the thing.
By the way, its powrtouch!! not power touch as we all keep saying, I found that out last night when I went on the web and got another company!!! I then looked at my paperwork and found its PowRtouch.
