no no no...giving a clue here and there is one thing but I can't really spell it out?

Truth is though, I've just seen and talking of the latest handset so may have led you astray abit?
The current one is more snub nosed while the latest is more pointed like a boat and the same as...oh nearly said it

Hello Dave and Chowey. I am still trying to fix up the best solution for engaging the rollers on my newly fitted Ego Mover which requires either a lot of winding on by hand or a pretty powerful drill. I am in the process of replacing my old cordless driver with something better, something with a pretty high torque rating. My local power tool guy suggested an impact driver which has a torque figure of something like 130nm. I am not so sure however because I am not sure what impact drivers are. I suspect they are similar to the air drills that the tyre fitters use which have a sort of hammer action. If so I think that this would probably damage the mover screw-on activation devices. If all else fails then I am tempted to disengae the central activation so that the rollers can be positioned on the tyre one at a time  requiring only half the power but having to be done twice.

Muleskin

I agree with the post above a decent 18v drill will do the job.

An impact driver is a definate no.

As I said before when winding on when you reach the first vertical "mark" continue for a second or so. Once you get use to the driver you can set the torque to cut out at this point.

Thanks Dave you have confirmed my suspicions that the advice my power tools man was giving me about the impact driver was was not good. It wa the torque figure that impressed me, 150nm compared with 30-40nm for a pretty good drill driver. I  will  replace my old drill with a good 18v drill driver.

impact driver a definite no, no.

I think my drill is 24Volt, was a cheapy from netto at around £15... does the job, but doesn't hold its charge for long after a good year of use. But long enough for one round of mover and steadies.

I find I like to get the mover rollers onto the wheels, then finish it off with the steady tool myself. I find I can judge the resistance applied to the tyre better than just the visual guides alone. But then that's just me.

Let me know if you find any bargains...I could be in the market myself for one.

Hi Dave and Cgowey. My local power tool man did me a deal on a Makita Drill Driver with two  2.6ah Ni-MH batteries and a case. The drill does the job in double quick time. Its like having a  motor activated mover. I am now really impressed. My old drill must be  real weakling and I began to doubt if i had fitted the right mover.

I nearly bought a Ryobi set copnsisting of a drill driver and a hammer drill for under £100 which I think is an equally good buy.

I finally got around to taking the ego off my caravan today, ready for its fitting to my new caravan later next month when we go to collect it.

After taking 2 days initially to fit it in really hot weather, I managed to get the mechanics off in 1.5 hrs including getting the tools out initially, then about another 45 mins to an hr to undo all the motor electrics from the van and make good.

Unfortunately, I am aching now.......but glad its done. And for the refit, I am paying someone else to have all the aches and pains this time around.

Hi Chowey, I know how you feel and I bet you have a few bumps on your head as well. What van are you getting next to replace your Rallye GTE.

Yes quite a few bumps to the head. Still no sense though! My new van is a swift charisma.
