Dear all,
I'm going to see some second hand caravans in the next week or so (circa 2004) and want to check for damp, but I've read the type of damp meters you can buy in B&Q etc aren't very sensitive and that the type used by dealers/service people are much more sensitive, but much more expensive.
Any advice on what damp meter I should use? Two of the caravans I am to see haven't been serviced recently (at least the owners were honest...) because the owners are those handy mechanic/builder types who do it themselves.
Whilst they both seem genuine (and at least no flannel about 'lost paperwork' from the 'last service'...), I'm not going to buy a 'van without a damp check - but want to make sure I can rely on the readings before parting with any cash. Any suggestions? Or is it foolish in the extreme to even think of buying an unserviced 'van?
