Just wondered if anyone was considering buying one of those new inflatable awnings? They look brilliant, but I think I would actually miss my poles - we end up with SO much stuff hanging from hooks around the awning.
The inflatable one is very fast to put up though - that in itself is quite tempting. I imagine it's also quite easy to dry at home after packing up in the rain! Just re-inflate it on a sunny day.
I like the thought of the quickness of it, but to be honest, I don't really like the look of the awning itself, and I am a bit concerned about it being a big balloon!!

If it's good enough for the Eden Project. Our new local council head office building has an inflatable roof over the centre area. It's made of a series of inflatable pillows joined together. A pump runs as required to maintain the pressure.
I'd guess they'd be OK as long as they are strong enough. Also, what happens if you get a leak or puncture. We had an airbed when we used to camp; it got a very slow puncture that I just could not find. By morning we were on the ground.
They look as if they would be easier to erect on a windy day though and the thought of no poles crashing down on my head while trying to put up the awning appeals to me.

I've heard about these bit am not really clear about the concept. Is the blow up bit where the poles traditionally go? If so I wouldn't think they would stand up to much. (I can visualize my Spacelight - we got rid of that because it often took on the resemblance of a balloon.) I can imagine it might be useful as an aid to putting it up, but then could do with poles to make it more stable - or perhaps have poles as an option for when the going gets tough?
I dont understand why there is no 'eazy-up' awning, I have one of these as a gazebo in the back garden, huge thing that you can put up for parties etc, takes seconds with two of you.
You just stand either side and pull and it extends out and up. do you know the kind of thing I mean? Has anyone ever tried to make an awning like that do you know?

When we first got the Pathfinder we used a pop-up gazebo, very strong and we tied it to the cabin with the guy lines. It is now 6 years old and still going strong. it was 2.5m X 2.5m. Unfortunately my FiL boughta 3m X 3m eazy-up gazebo, with sides, that turned out to be too big for use in his garden. So my better half swopped ours for his as by this time i had aquired a full awning for the FC. It stayed in the shed for 2 years until last August when I used it as an awning for the tent, it lasted for 2 days and then two cross spars broke! I WANT MY POP-UP BACK !!!
