Not difficult we did this with our last van. Measure up and use a large sheet of brown paper as a template. We had good off cuts from when we re-carpeted the lounge and edging was not an issue - though I guess it could be if it unravels easily.
You can use heavy duty velcro to secure it, but if you get the sizing right it's not an issue and better still makes it removable for cleaning.

we fitted a new carpet with ease.go to a carpet warehouse and buy a roll end the quality of which is your choice and will depend on price.when we looked they started at £10 and went to £100.these roll ends are 16 foot long so will accommodate any normal caravan.if you take out the old one with a very sharp knife and use this for a template, cutting a quarter of one inch over size all round.and then refit to the caravan.these carpet shops all have fitters on hand and due to the size it should not cost much to fit.i secured ours with tiny brass screws and cups at 18 inch intervals along the full length at each side.still looked new when we sold it.
hi, we have just did it the other way round,we cut the old carpet with a sharp blade and used that as a tenplate to cut the cushing floor, i found that as i unscrewd some of the fittings we where able to lift some slightly and push the cushing floor under,in other place,s just take your time and cut your carpet carefully, good luck.
------------- its easy enough to be pleasant when the world rolls along like a song.but a man is worth while if he can smile when every thing goes f------ wrong.
When I replaced the carpet in our van. I took lots of measurements and then drew the shape onto the replacement carpet. cut it out and then dropped it into place. Leaving the original down as extra warmth and comfort.
------------- Don't know where I'm going but will be happy when I get there.
Changed our carpet for vinyl with just a runner down the middle for when its cold
on the van we have now i fitted a runner the full length of the van, cost £40 best money ever spent, screwed down by tiny brass screws and cups at 18 inch spaces each side.never moved yet.if i could have got one the width of the walkway it would have been better.
