You need to limit what equipment you run from the battery to make it last longer. The big user is the telly. Don't use the fan on the blow air if you can manage without, just use the gas. Don't have all the lights on.
At this time of year when its cold the battery won't give out as much power as in the summer when its warmer. A car battery will be OK as long as you remove the leisure battery and put the car battery in its place.
I assume you mean a spare car battery and not the one on the car. I wouldn't want to run the risk of flattening the car battery and not being able to start in the morning.
You should find that if you leaave the grey plug plugged into the car with the engine stopped, the lights etc in the caravan will work from the car battery. This may be useful in an emergency if the leisure battery goes flat in the night for making say one light work for a couple of hours.
A solar panel won't be much use at this time of year. Fine in summer. Another way is to have a spare battery and use it just for the telly. Then when it goes flat you still have the main one.
