I'm just about to insure our recently purchased caravan and I was reading the small print of a policy that looks good, but I keep coming accross this phrase regarding wheel clamps and hitch locks, it says 'When the caravan is left unattended and detached from the towing vehicle it must be protected by a hitchlock and a wheel clamp of proprietary make', well what is a 'proprietary make' does it just mean a manufactured one as opposed to one I might knock together in my garage or do they have to be a specific make approved by insurance companies?
the bit that worrys me is that when its in storage we have the hitchlock and wheelclamp but when on hols we only use the hitchlock as the clamp is ruddy heavy, what happens if some pikey decides he wants our 15yr old van for himself when were out for the day on hols?????
