Visited Discover (Barrons) at Chorley/Coppul today and was stunned at how bare it looked.  Very very few vans in the main caravan viewing area, not many open -as usual- so having to look through the windows, some second hand ones, they were poor, really really saddened to see such a once flourishing dealership looking like it is going down the drain.  We then visited the shop and awning bit, the wife walks with walking sticks and we had our 7mth old grandson with us in his pram, we could go round the ground floor of the shop but only me could visit the upstairs where the awnings are kept, the wife and our grandson in his buggy had no way of getting up there.......why! Do they only want people who can climb stairs up there!!.   If someone said to me in a matter of months that this dealership was closed it wouldn't surprise me.  We have already had our local one at Culcheth closed, maybe they are moving everything over to the old Harringtons one at Delamere.  What is going on????  gary

We have a Discover (ex-Barrons)near York, and to be honest I have an aversion to going to dealers who keep all the vans locked and you have to set out to find a salesman. When looking at caravans we love to browse, and if we can't browse we don't go back, simple as that.

I can well understand dealers keeping vans locked - too many lightfingered folk about. If you're seriously interested in looking, ask for them to be unlocked and surely they'll do it.

There's only one thing worse than salesmen hovering around a customer who is "just looking", and that's the salesman who disappears completely when you want to actually buy something!

Discover at Delamere,Chester has caravans in, but the accessories display is rather bare.  There is a sign up saying 'reorganising'!! This has been the same since last October. It looks as if no more stock has been brought  in for quite some time. It does look as this group could be going under 'again'.

I have to agree with you all-- when Culcheth closed some stock was taken to Delamere as when we visited the boxes were out on the floor with 'from Culcheth' written on them.  In the South..be it Bristol or otherwise- we visited many caravan dealerships and ALL caravans were open.  On the point of light fingered folk- they do remove the cooker knobs, radios etc and anything that can be pinched, but come on, why should the folk who want to spend thousands on these caravans have to go trawling round and round for a member of staff to then say- 'I will go and get the bunch of keys' and then dissappear for some time, use some common sense.  I have never seen Barrons/Discover Coppull so bare, it was pittyfull.  We visit Bristol and the south often, even when we visited Mendip at Weston Super Mare, you were allowed in the vans at your leisure, but there was 2 or 3 staff walking around for you if you should need them. GREAT. No pressure.  Come on Discover sort it out. gary

Our local dealer is really good, you tell him what vans you want to look at he gets the keys hands them to you and says take your time and leaves us alone , then when we have finished we hand the keys back no pressure to buy at all.exept the pressure I give OH as I want them all lol

Not been up to Barrons at Coppull but went to Delamere in March and that looked grim same old story vans looked up and salesmen or should I say order takers with bunch of keys.

Shop looked like a bomb site but with a few new Bailey vans on display.

Discover I would think are owned by bean counters and run by sales men who have no interest in caravans or customers and could be selling anything.

well said vulcan7, yes Delamere was a sorrowfull sight as well.  I doubt very much if we will be going back to Coppull again, would rather travel the extra miles and go to Delamere, at least there there is a shop on one level-for us with knackered joints and prams.  It is a pity though as when they were Barrons all was fine, is it a case of too big too soon with poor results.         gary
