Recently bought our first caravan after many years I have towed from the age of seventeen, then had a caravan in mid 80's when the kids arrived.it was a Sprite Musketeer and was olden but golden, even back then. This is the point: I felt quite experienced and capable having done several thousand miles including a 3 week grand tour of France , towing and dozens of 700 mile round trips to Cornwall. However, when I got my 1996 'van,(an ageing 'van itself (?), I couldn't find the reversing lever on the draw hitch. Then I read a recent thread and discovered that these were only on very old 'vans.
Oh dear! A lot of time has gone by. I had better get right up to date again, with all the safety issues etc. You are never to old to learn! But how time passes............

Hi dinkum, Know how you feel, bough a van and tried to reverse it up driveway, could not find reverse catch, though it had older hitch than the old van, felt bit of idiot when trying to to find reverse leaver type, as you say you are never to old to learn.

David has now made me feel old......... This on top of being short and fat............
On a brighter note, we have a toilet room in our Microlite and I have found a shower tray which fits along with matching corner wash basin! We can now have a hand held shower with "flying" lead shower hose.Great for those CL's with no washblock, like the Beacon in Cornwall. Cannot wait to get going!

On our first trip with our 1962 Sprite we travelled from the Kent coast to S Wales and back with the lock on the drawbar engaged resulting in burning out the front brake pads on oiur then brand new Marina. They say you learn from your mistakes..Micki
