Firstly let me apologize for bringing this thread up for the umpteenth time but I am now in a bit of a tizz over this stuff.

After a lot of digging on tinternet and on this site I am still not very much further forward, I was going to get this :

Link

as it has been recommended by someone on here and they will cut it to my fixed bed shape free of charge, but after reading the blurb it only has a density rating of 40kg.

It looks like the recommended minimum density rating should be between 60-75 kg.

Can anyone help me with some recommendations and links on what they are using.

Also do they have a smell ? some people complain they have a chemical smell, is this also true ?

I am so sorry to bring it up again but on using the search facility it does not seem to give me much help.

Regards......

i must be the only person that doesnt like memory foam.

think about it you lay on it it moulds to your shape. fine if you dont want to move.

i bought a memory foam pillow for my son, they are heavy, yes they smell, and they mould to your shape, the pillow was awfull to get back to a pillow shape.plus they cost a lot if you dont like them what will you do . they dont store very easily.

think of something else. i have problems with my back in our van but i wouldnt use memory foam. i put an old sleeping bag under me for some extra padding not ideal but its ok.

May be worth buying a foam mattress out of a bed shop that you can try and feels comfortable for you, a lot of them have a zip on cover which is easy to alter and sew to the shape required after cutting the mattress to the right size and shape to fit your van.

I bought mine, a 4ft6ins width cut into 2x 2ft3ins from a SleepMasters store and its made by Breasley foam, but Ikea are another likely source of suitable ones especially if you need one longer than the standard british sizes. Beware though that they are quite heavy, especially if you choose a thick memory foam one over standard foam.
