We turned up at the campsite on Saturday around 12.30, the office was closed, we looked around for someone and found the cleaner, he told us jst to pitch up and the lady would come around to the caravan for the money as the office was closed till monday, we have been going out each day at 9.45 - 10.00am and checking at the office but still no sign of anyone - not even the cleaner.
After we pitched up we noticed that 3 others had not paid, they had no tickets flying like everyone else, well they all left the site yesterday, still with no payment ticket.
Our query is what do we do about paying? How can we pay when there is no-one around? We cant waste the day waiting in the caravan.
Just go when you want to, If nobody can be bothered to collect your money its hardly your fault. If you want to pay then either leave them a note or email/phone them later requesting an invoice & you will put a cheque in the post.

Is there a letterbox or something you could put the money through - assuming you know how much it should be of course - or your name and phone number for them to contact you.

The camp site office is closed over one of the busiest weekends of the year?
If it had been open we would not need to put this posting on as we could have paid!!
Well it has been closed. There is even a note on the door saying that it will not reopen until Monday but someone will call round, no-one has, the people who were next to us saw no-one, but they left yesterday before we got back and so had others who had no paid.
We will try again today, but if no luck will have to sort out when we get home.
Have to say we have never been to any site where you see no-one, they are usally out after your money before you actually pitch.
Its possible they have some sort of family crisis, its odd that they arn't there over the hol weekend. I assume you know phone no./email of campsite? All you can do is leave a note pinned to door or wherever & contact them later.
Agree with Oldham - if you can't find anywhere to leave the cash, send a cheque to the site owner (probably named in site list) and I'm sure their regular postman/woman will know where to deliver it.

Think, Caris, you will find that her Majesty was away at Windsor this last weekend so of course no one was at the Palace to take your money. Pick a more traditional camp site next time. I don't know.... newbys!!!
Phil
We maybe "newbys" to owning a caravan but we are by no means "newbys" to camping.
We have gone to a traditional cs, I found it advertised on here, it certainly isnt just a field with nothing in it.
We have paid. On our way out this morning the office was re-open. We explained and the lady said it was not a problem, she said the office had been closed and yesterday she went to Lands End for the day.
She knew that people arrive and go off without paying and accepted it as one of those things. She seemed very laid back with it.
