Take what you want. It isn't necessary to buy caravan low amp things but you need to be aware of what your using at one time so you don't trip the EHU.  The watts should be on a sticker on the applance

A rough guide is

Eg  1000 watts = 4 amps  so to get that you divide the watts by 250 and that gives you the amps

but if you will also have on your fridge, heating and hot water heater on electric then you need to remember to switch some things off to use others. Or use the above on gas. Hope this helps.

yes you can use a microwave in a caravan. best not to go for a 'go faster' model with all the gizmos asa bog standard 40 quid from the supermarket which pats your bottom will do most things you need.

As to the george foreman grill look on the label to see how many kW or VA it uses if its 2000W or 2kW or 2000VA or less then it will be ok even on a 6A ehu.

hope that helps

You certainly can use a microwave but there is usually a power surge when turned on and if you are on a low amp supply you may well trip it out.

I have known people trip out a 15amp supply.

They are also usually very heavy to be carting about.

Not sure about your griller but should be ok

2000 watts is 8.25 Amps so 6A EHU aint enough cos  theres still the charger at least and the fridge maybe and I think you,ll find that the supply is more than likely to trip before it gets  near 6 Amp ie run up till 5.7A then trip depending on sensitivity of the breaker at the supply end. The best guide is 1000 watts equals 5 Amp then you,ll always err on side of caution.

I think you can get one that is specific 4 caravan use from some caravan shops.Altho i would imagine that these would be a bit more expensive than say your bog standard from the likes of asda/tesco etc.

The standard fit in our new Bailey is only a Daewoo plastic thing. Haven't used it yet and probably never will.

Bear in mind that that will be the output watts not the input watts which will be higher (and may not change much)

So did we and we also have the George Foreman as well. We are now debating whether we really need the microwave as it always seems to be in the way sitting on the worktop, as well as being heavy and bulky. Maybe get it built into a top cabinet out of the way.

microwave ok if you really want one   but you have to make sure there is air space around the box to allow heat to escape so be careful re size and the cupboard space

also it has to be fixed and not free standing and therefore not able to bounce around during journeys

realistically they are a better bet than 'proper' ovens - and would be safer if fixed at oven level and note eye level   the dangers inherent in lifting hot food out from a unit at eye level are obvious equally we are told to keep heavy object low down yet microwaves are fitted at the top of the van on the same side as the heavy fridge and cooker  odd!

your choice in the end though

My fixed microwave is so high up above full size fridge/freezer I think it is a little dangerous lifting hot food out.

Microwave and GF grill would work well in the awning, seen that plenty of times, well organised people with a little kitchen set up.

Micky
