i am after a awning for my van, but dont want to spend the earth on the canvas ones as only plan to have this van for this year and sell and get a new one, i am looking at the lightweight awnings made out of tent material, i like the outdoor revolution ones, have got a outdoor revolution utility tent and that stood up to horrific weather last year,
also need to have a inner sleeping tent for 2 people when my niece and sis come to vist, we will be staying on site for 4 weeks in aug, so will be up all that time, plan to use it to cook in and for the kids to mingle when the weather is wet, so has to fit 3 kids aged between 6-9 and the clutter they take with them, ie table for putting tv on, wardrobe for their clothes.
not asking to much am i?? any one got any good recommendations.
sorry about the ??'s i am a single mum so money is tight.
Hi thomsonmum3. If you are planning to replace the van after a year, then I would forget buying a full awning. They come in many different shapes and sizes, so unless you know exactly what van you are getting, and the dimentions of the required awning, I would go for a porch awning of some sort. Generally speaking, a porch awning will fit most (but not all) vans. You also want to sleep people, and you are interested in a 'lightweight'.
My answer would be a Kampa Fiesta. It is more substantial than most (it has steel poles), and fits to the van with the (now) traditonal 'quick-lok' type connector. It is a good size - we can get 3 large chairs, a really large table, and other bits and pieces. It is one of the few lightweights which you can buy a zip in sleeping compartment. (You can fit two, one either side if you wish). It's as easy to put up as any of the 'quick assemble' awnings, and is much more steady than others I have seen. I think it ticks all your boxes!
We have used ours this week. I will try and post some photos later..... if my wife took any.
