Hi ladies - I've just told my Mom to go and buy a tourer (a two birth), and that I will tow it for her (gulp - never towed before ).
My OH says I will be fine - just want some reassurance from other lady towers!
Thanks Susie
I tow ours.. It's no prob honestly. There's loads of us ladies tow. After all we are the better drivers
Just do short trips to begin with till you get your confidence.I go away on my own (well I meet up with friends at a site) but do all the hitching, unhitching setting up etc.. Ours is a 24' 4 berth.
My next trip is 21st April and I'll be towing to Scone (Perth) but will be meeting up with my OH at Perth and some friends
You go for it girl

How about doing a caravan towing and manoeuvring course run by either the CC or the C & CC. I'm a lady caravanner - or soon will be. I recently passed my test and once I've gained my confidence just driving around I fully intend to do one of these courses The CC course is £105 and the C & CC is £85 - have a look on their websites to see if there's one being held near you.

I've always towed ours at first had OH sat next to me but i've towed solo for 11 years now, he usually comes down once everything's set up its less stress that way.

Thanks everyone ! My OH did a towing course - I might let him 'sit beside/guide' me at first to see how I cope. I don't intend to reverse cause I will always be following OH towing our caravan. Think my 1st attempt will be somewhere near home. If I do OK my Mom will have a whole new life 'cause my Dads ill and they don't get to go out much....so I am very determined!
you go for it. my mum is disabled and doesn't get out much so we bought an old small 1970's caravan to try. I'd never done any towing at all when I got ours but after a couple of short local trips I was fine. I've been towing 10 years now. We now have a 15ft avondale sandmartin and we love it. I can reverse but just really dislike it so I always unhitch and push it into place by hand. The van is so light I don't have any trouble manouvering it by hand on my own.
My wife Kay does the towing now as I have had to give my license back due to ill health and she does brilliant, just come back from her first towing hol and were off again tomorrow for another. As the others said just take your time and you will be fine. good luck and happy hols. Bill

I smile besause I have'nt a clue whats going on... appreciate everything in life especially your friends...
susie/ladies in general, if you are a competent driver that has feel for what the car is doing, can judge and feel a crosswind and have good spacial awareness then there is no reason why you cannot tow a caravan just as well if not better than us guys. it is a very common misconception that you need a wee dangly thing between your legs in order to tow but that is not the case
so get the van hitched up and hit the road, also if you have probs with the awning just look cute and us guys will be more than happy to pitch it (in exchange for tea and cake )
I tow as my hubby can't drive. Our last van was a massive twin axle which gave hubby kittens in tight entrances/exits but didn't bother me. I love the freedom driving gives me and the opportunties to go off on a weekend when I want to so I'd say go for it, you'll ask yourself why you didn't do it sooner.
