I have an Elddis Crusader which I bought new about a year ago after about 6 months some white spots started to become visble in the front central window about quarter of the way down in an arc shape about a foot long. We could not clean them off and seemed to be on the inside of the window between the sealed units. It looked like a manufacturing fault. The dealer changed the window about 3 months ago for a new one and now the new window is starting to do exactly the same in the same place.

I will be contacting the dealer again this week to aske them to replace it again, bt was wondering if any one else has found this problem either on an Elddis or other make. I think I rmember reading something from a reader enquiry in one of the monthly mags from somebody else with a similar problem.

Has anyone on ukc had this problem?

Yes, it is a known problem with the Polyplastic windows on vans made around 2007-2009.

The gap between the panes is too small, so wind pressure when towing causes the panes to rub together and get marked.

Polyplastic are now on "mark 3" of these windows. They were available from September 2009, so your replacement is probably of earlier manufacture. They are dated, so if you look at the numbers on it you can tell when it was made. On Swift vans, dealers were told to return earlier replacements and wait for the latest version.

We are on our 3rd window now.

If you need more info come back to me.

Jennifer - I suppose this is a problem that could occur on all vans then, irrespective of the make.  I wouldn't be suprised if all the windows were made by the same people , or is it just Swift/Elddis?

Our window has just been replaced,it's a sprite major, obviously part of the swift group. We were told by the dealer that they had replaced windows on bailey vans as well,so probably they were using the same supplier.Have only been out in it once since being replaced, but appears ok at the moment.Off this weekend so may have a better idea.Cheers John.

Had mine changed on Thursday 1st April (no not a joke) this was on a Bailey Senator Louisiana. The dealer reports that they have had several makes of vans back with the same issue.

Thanks everyone, I will call the dealer again tomorrow and ask them to order another one (Jennifern) where is the date normally put on the window?

I thought it odd that when I contacted our dealer late last year, they just ordered a new window in without even asking to see the van, of course they did not mention that it was a known fault. What is annoying is that I first mentioned the fault to them around October so when they ordered the new window in it would have been after the September 09 version Mk 3 was released.

Hi Dave, they were probably sent an old window and didn't know any better.

Look in the top left corner as seen from inside. It's an oval sticker, bottom left on it is the date code. As in 09/09. Which is September 2009.

There have not yet been any reported failures of "mark 3" windows, but that does not mean it cannot happen.

Compared to our previous windows the new one is VERY thick.

All makes of vans are affected.

We have a sort of "crazing" around the catches and what looks like a lightning flash, all on the front windows, is this the same sort of problem?

That sounds quite different. The fault we had was like whitish spots, on the inside of the outside, and the outside of the inside, pretty much in the middle of the centre window. Only the big centre windows are affected.

Hmm, sounds a little different too.   As I said above, it has only been the centre front windows that have been affected.

Do you think this new problem on the super cyclone might actually be condensation?  If you get condensation, do you have to remove the little plugs in the windows?  Is that what the little plugs are for?  I've never touched these before, in any van I've had.  Is this the sort of thing Michael will know the answer to?
