We have an ongoing problem with the water heater. We fill it by opening the kitchen and bathroom taps till all the air runs through. Then we switch on the element. The heater does heat up the water, but after a few hours we have to draw air out of the pipes again. LOTS of air! Basically starting from scratch every time we want hot water.
Nothing is dripping from the drainage pipe underneath the van. Anyone got any ideas?
I would have thought that once the air is purged from the system, that should be it until you disconnect to go home.
Might get a better response if you tell us the make of the water heater, but my first thought is a faulty non-return valve on the heater allowing the water to return back to the cold water tank or a faulty thermostat not switching off.

Sounds like a dodgy non return valve, the hot water will be draining back ut again into the aquaroll or on board tank depending on what you have as suggested by Rune Caster.
