hi are shurflow pumps always this noisey first time with onboard pump much more noisey than my external what can i do thanks

Onboard pumps are noisy compared to the drop in the barrel ones. If it is not mounted on rubber feet then doing that will help.

The pump in our van is mounted on a wooden board by a rubber bracket and the board is fastened to the van's floor  by rubber mounts.

If they are fixed down too tight the vibrations get amplified by the floor. The pipes can also vibrate.

Any air in the system will make it worse.

It should be possible to reduce the noise a bit, but then it is just a case of getting used to it apparently.

i get really peed off with mine ..i have 2 internal  pumps one for external to the caravan if you want to draw from a aquaroll ,and another for the internal tank to supply to the taps and both sound like jack hammers ..service guys say it's normal ..if i grab  the sides of the pump i can feel it clacking like an impeller blade is knocking on something ..normal my arse..

This is the first caravan we have had with an internal pump and it is noisy compared to the outside ones although it is never on long enough to be a real problem. Funnily enough I was checking the water system the other day and had all the seats up so I could see the pump. When I ran it there seemed to be far less noise, perhaps being enclosed they echo a bit!

I took my shurflo pump out because of the noise and replaced it wth one of these, its a whale pump and a lot quieter.
