Just picked up one of those triangular two way spirit levels for my caravan, where is the best place to position it ?

Also one of the tubes is longer than the other so which way round should, it go long tube facing towards the front of the van and the sort tube facing the side of the van ??

Haha, yes it will be fixed to a level surface !

The longer bubble-tube will probably be slightly more sensitive, so I would fit it with that tube lengthways to the van.

The most sensitive piece of equipment in terms of level is the refrigerator.  And the gas hob being level is important for safety.  I would put the level on a shelf in the refrigerator, and get the van level to this.  Then just check the hob to satisfy yourself that it is also level.  When you are happy with these checks, then permanently fit your spirit level, showing an accurate setting, wherever it suits your purpose.

I use a plastic bottle with a little water in the give it some weight. I then place it on the floor in the van and when it stops rolling front or back it is level in that plane, then rotate the bottle through 90 degs and do the side to side. We have never had any problems with either the Hob or Fridge, or even a feeling of being off level when walking in the van.

I remember my Grandad yrs ago having one of the double bubble things and he tried all kinds of places before he adopted the plastic bottle practice, and lobbed the double bubble level in the nearest bin.

The cover on the A frame might not be level due to fittings etc and you cannot drill the chassis, and my van has no bare chassis at the front to glue the level to anyway.

I was just trying to be helpful to anyone who did want to fit their spirit level permanently.  Do it the way I explained and then make a good job of securing the level correctly, and it will be right.
