We bought the same awning last year and had similar problems, also found it very annoying when it was windy to have the top half of case zip flapping and banging on the roof all night, and such a poor fit down the sides where it joins the van, we were very disapointed indeed with this awning in many ways. The point of being able to roll back the awning into its travel bag whilst still attached to the van is a joke, it would take two exceptionally tall people to roll and fold each end at the same time before you would stand a chance of doing so, and the only way we got ours to go back in was by laying it flat out on the patio when we got home and folding and rolling it back up that way.
Last week we spotted one erected onto a van up at the Haven Primrose Valley site, it was a twin axel van that seemed a little lower in height, and the fit was much better than we had managed to achieve on ours which is much taller and boardering on the maximum recommended rail height for this awning, hence its now up for sale cheap if anyone wants it lol, only erected twice and used for a week on site!
It was an expensive mistake, but we have now replaced it with a Kampa Rally 260, which is brilliant, has height adjustable front legs and also is a far better quailty awning all round.
