Why camp if you dont want to mix with people i am always amazed by people who put up many windbreaks to keep everyone out why bother hitching up the van and towing to the site when they dont want to be with other people anyway. Why?

I agree, but, I think there is a big difference between mixing with people and invasion of ones privacy.  Personally, I absolutely agree about the windbreaks - they should not be necessary as a baracade.  IMHO it is common courtesy to avoid other people's space and I feel that children should be taught this by their parents.  After saying that, this is not high on my list of pet 'hates', unless by doing so there is potential for damage to my property.  (This is why I particularly hate ball games in the immediate vacinity of caravans.)

I thought the main idea of camping was to enjoy living in the open air in a convenient way.
I dislike mixing with people on a campsite except perhaps for a quick chat when filling up with water etc.

Concur with you , we go away for peace and quiet and nearly always use C.C site's and when we pay for a pitch that's our space which we use as a base to explore the area walking or cycling not to have folks taking shortcuts across , something I don't do

We don't cut across pitches & have tried to drum it into our kids too.  If they did do it on the way to the loos etc... I'd be happy for anyone to pull them up for it.  We've tried to teach them to respect other people's property & privacy.

On the flip side, it doesn't really bother us when other people come thru our pitch as long as they're not likely to cause any damage or get tangled up in the awning guy ropes.  We're also not bothered about people looking in - we sit with the awning door wide open so it's kind of natural for people's eyes to be drawn in that direction.  Maybe it doesn't bother us because we live in a terraced house & we're used to people looking in as they walk past.
