Don't forget the chargers for your mobile phones and end up draining the car battery cos you have got the car chargers for them.

Don't forget the remote for your TV so you can't tune it in to the local freeview so your son can't watch his favourite program.

Don't forget to enjoy yourselves!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did our first trip - we're really itching to get away again!

Don't push the window shut from the outside . I walked into our open window last weekend, and without thinking , pushed it in to close it and snapped the retainer arm off at the bracket Doh !

don't put heavy items like tins of beans in overhead lockers, if they fall out when travelling they dent the worktops. also we put china cups and plates in our top lockers once and arrived to find them smashed all over the floor.
Dont forget the caravan keys (sounds obvious , but believe me we have done this) arrived on site with no keys .get a spare set and keep them on your car keys (reminder to self )

For a starter for 10

Don't leave the caravan keys at home in a safe place

Don't take the caravan off the tow hook until  jockey wheel down

Don't go in van until steadies in place

Don't leave the corkscrew at home

Don't try taking the van into a supermarket carpark which has a height barrier

Don't leave the hand brake on when setting off

Don't leave a bottle of milk on the worktop before you set off

Don't leave any skylights open when it raining

Don't forget to get the gas bottle refill

Don't leave your sense of humour at home

Go and enjoy

Don't forget to put the squares of wood under the steadies & then enthusiastically wind steadies down on to softish ground and break all the cute little plastic caravan 'feet' (sorry can't remember the proper name for them)!!

If you are taking cooking oil, take the solid stuff.

I once spent a week putting a new carpet into my motorhome and then on the first trip a bottle of cooking oil fell out of the overhead locker, hit the worktop and spilled its contents all across the new carpet.

I then spent a week with blotting paper and a hot iron trying to clean it up but in the end the whole carpet came up and I had to lay another new one.

Don't forget to make sure your omnivent/ rooflight is shut saw one laying on my A2last weekend bet the owners were gutted when they got home.
Don't leave a loaf of bread on the side i did spent all the journey trying to work out what was that squarish thing I could see from my rear view mirror lol inside the van.
If you have cats check when you finally lock the van door for the off that there isn't a cat stowaway I didn't last year and driving down the M2 spotted a sillouette of a cat on the front cushion by the center table.. Yep I had a passenger had to pull up in lay by get in van grab cat and turn round and go home, surprised she was so calm didn't seem to care at all in fact she was cross I removed her. She is a layed back cat and probably was enjoying the view.

Can't think of anything else but have have :)

We have only had our caravan out three times and here are the things we have forgotten!

Don't leave the handbrake on and try to use your mover

Don't leave windows open when towing (spotted it before going on the main roads)

Don't forget to secure your fire ext when travelling, found ours on the floor on our return.  It is something we put by the door and forget about.  We were lucky it didn't go off as the pin had broken.

Don't leave bread in your van on return and find it two weeks later!!

We forgot to put the catch on both the sliding bathroom door and the shower door. They were hanging from the top and flapping about when we got home. Luckily no damage.

We have tried to fill the hot water tank up while the drain plug is still open. Two aquarolls later before we realised !

We have turned the pump on with all the taps open - water spurted all over the place.

Plus many of the above ! Hopefully we have learned by our mistakes !

Have fun !

Dont set off for  home with the gas still on ("Did you turn the gas tap off?" "I thought you did" "Well I thought you did")  Hasty pull into a layby!

Dont forget to switch the fridge back to battery on return journey.

Dont leave dog in the caravan on return journey!!! (Picture - cocker spaniel sitting on central chest of drawers waving frantically, luckily we saw him before we pulled out of the site!)

Dont forget erection of the awning is a spectator sport for some people, and just ignore them!  And dont bray your OH with a mallet during said erection, however tempting it may be.

Dont forget first few trips are a learning curve for all of us, and even experienced vanners/campers make mistakes!
