........ buy a caravan. But we have. A 1995 Coachman Mirage 350/2 in immaculate nick. It only weighs 800 kilos or so fully loaded, so no need to change the car. And it has that rarity, a kitchen at the back, which we really wanted. Its a shame you have to go so far back to get the layout and weight you want.
So now we can grab odd days in the UK without worrying too much about the weather.
Congrats our old bailey had a rear kitchen it was great, and like you we said never to a van, but we got so fed up of being cold and wet in our tent we finally caved and had no regrets we loved it so much we have recently upgraded to a newer van.
Enjoy and tbh there is nothing quite like sitting in a warm van with the tv on looking out at the rain and wind and feeling all is well as you pity the poor person in a tent from you huddled around a fire, knowing exactley how they feel

We didn't intend buying one, either, but we were in the caravan shop buying something for the campervan and just thought we'd have a look round. Ours is a 1996 model and, like yours, with an end kitchen. I occasionally go and have a mooch round the new vans and, although they're very nice, there's always something I prefer about mine.
Still got the trailer tent for good weather and forin parts. Couldn't bare to part with it - especially at the kind of trade in they were offering everywhere.
I said i'd never go camping let alone ever tow a 'van lol. But we got a tt, set up in the pouring rain right over a puddle but still loved it and we are now on our 3rd caravan lol. Expensive business, though, this cheap holiday lark lol
Congrats Ala29.
I was one those who said "... you'd never see me towing one of those" but with the Brit climate as it is, we started to find the trailer tent in less use. It was a beauty and we were reluctant to part with it (Cabanon Atlantis), but I'm very pleased with our 2007 Bailey 500/5 and we get away much more frequently that we did (currently on site nr Banbury, very pleasant).
