A directional antenna will always outperform an omni,, providing you point it in the right direction. As Shaft says, different sets react differently. eg. we have a Sanyo in the lounge which fires up the freeview almost instantaneously, whereas the Polaroid which we use in the van and I have it in my radio shack/computor room, Takes a while to find the signal. BBC1 & 2 can take as long as 6 minutes while displaying the 'no signal' message, then all of a sudden will burst into life. Most of the other channels don't take quite that long. You might try leaving it for a while and see if it comes to life. If it does'nt then it's obviousley not such a sensitive receiver as your box and would sugest you try a directional antenna. You don't need an expensive one, B&Q/Homebaseones are quite adequate. Don't let the salesman kid you you need a dedicated Freeview antenna costing all sorts of money, there is no such thing ! Wide band antennas with many elements look pretty but in reality don't give you much of an advantage. I make my own out of thick aluminium wire and they work just as well..............................Mick
