We are selling our 5 year old twin axle as we are also struggling with finances due to totally unforeseen circumstances.
We will then buy an older caravan and use the rest of the money to make us virtually debt free. We don't want to give up caravnning altogether as it is the only enjoyment we will be able to afford.

Fuosa - you can get most of your stuff inside the folding camper.  We lay the table flat on the floor & cover it with the awning & poles,pillows,cushions.. At the kitchen end with have the water containers, porta potti, chairs, extra table, fan heater. Inside the cupboards are our kettles (electric & gas) toaster (although you dont need it as theres a grill built in) pots pans, plates, teapot, tins of food, tea, coffee sugar etc. In the drawers we have EHU leads, lamps, batteries, toys, books etc

So in theory, all you really need to carry in the car will be clothes, food, and in ou case, our daughters bike,

In 1989, after a small inheritance, we bought a brand new van for cash, knowing we would probably never have the opportunity again. We kept it for 14 years until a change in circumstances dictated a change in layout was needed. Our current van is 15 years old and has every thing the latest vans have except a Heki and blown air on the heating. Last year we were pitched next to an elderly gentleman who owned a Carlight. We got talking and after me admiring his van he replied, "yes but it's not about what outfit you own, it's about the enjoyment you get out of it"

Never was a truer word spoken.

          Pete.

Very true Pete.
We're all different and as long as well enjoy getting away in whatever van/folding camper/tent we own then all's the better.

Whats all this talk about  DOWN grading to an old caravan !   I've only just UP   graded to a fifteen year old  Avondale , and we love it !  However keep caravaning whatever way you can , you know you'll enjoy it  !

        Phil

Yeah we UPGRADED to a 20-odd year old SPRITE with UPGRADED occational water leaks.  Soon after we UPGRADED to a 13 year old Mazda Hatch, which had an UPGRADED petrol tank that leaked.

I'd love to DOWNGRADE to a brand new Disco and 'van the size of the Ark Royal.

I have a brand new (4weeks old) van that we paid for in full when we collected it. We also can go away in it knowing my van is fully paid for. We worked very hard to save up to buy it, I've always been brought up to believe if you can't afford it you can't buy it so please don't just asume everyone has to get into debt to buy the brand spanker parked next to you.
Sorry I hope this doesn't sound like I'm having a go

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and it still sounds like you are having a GO, i was speaking out of turn i was making a point saying that if youd got into something you felt was over your head well all is ok and get out and get some thing slightly older, (we have) and enjoy your hols like most of us do on here, and no take affence by someone saying things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
