Hi All

We have recently bought a static caravan.  It will not be connected to mains water or electric.  It has a water boiler and a pump, I am not sure what make unfortunately. My question is can we set it up to supply us with hot water for washing up?  I boiled one too many kettles for my liking this weekend!  Could we power the pump through a battery and have an external water supply (e.g. in an aquaroll)?  What about water pressure?  Any advice would be gratefully received as we haven't got a clue.

Can you clarify, is this a touring caravan on a seasonal pitch or a static caravan? Make and model might help.

If its a static there is a forum for these where you might get more answers.

It's a static caravan.  I thought I'd post on this forum as most static caravans are plumbed into mains water and /or mains electricity, as we have neither I thought I might be able to draw from your collective wisdom on here.

Ok, understand now.

Touring caravans have an outstide connection point for the aquaroll, with either an internal or external 12v pump. This feeds the cold water supply and in most cases a hot water heater powered by gas and\or electric.

I have had a static in the past and the cold water was supplied at pressure and also fed a multi-pont water heater that supplied hot water to kitchen and bathroom. I guess you have something similar.

You say you will not have mains water or electricity. Will you use batteries and\or a generator or other sources of power?

The best I can come up with is connect a hose to one end to a 12v pump and put in a water butt or aquaroll, connect the oterh end to the water inlet for your Atlas and power pump via battery. Have far away is your water supply?, you will still have to transport water, could you not run a long pipe\hose from the supply?

Looking at Atlas Static Caravans on the web, I presume that as yours is not plumbed into a water supply and not connected to the mains, it is also not on a Caravan Park?

If this is the case, then boiling water can only be done by gas because doing it by any other means would be horrendously expensive. IE Mains Generator.

You could get a Calor Gas Boiler put in. Our central heating and hot water is by a Bosch bottled gas combination boiler and you could go down that route.

IMO you should get someone who knows about Static Vans to come and check yours out. You need someone to tell you just what you have and what you need.

No we are not on a caravan park - we have access to fresh water and waste facilities but not much else. It's a 'get back to nature in a metal caravan' kind of thing.

On thinking about it, a combination bottle gas boiler would be no use to you either as it needs a mains hook up to run the ignition system.

However you may be able to generate (water or wind power) enough electricity to suppliment the need for a mains ignition system.

There must be some that dont require power of any kind, I know my uncle has a static,  no 12V or mains, and he has hot water, ho does have mains water though.

the brittony 2 gas hot water heater has no electrical connections, dont know if ity comes in an LPG flavour though.

I would think the best way, IMO depending on how much hot water you want would be to look at a touring caravan, either an onboard tank, or aquarolls, a 12V pump, and a carver, or similar.

depending on budget, and length of stays, a 110Ahr battery, either take it home to recharge, or a wind turbine/solar panels ot keep the battery topped up.

at thorpe park there used to be load of older statics down one end, some with 5 or 6 batteries, a wind turm=bine and an inverter, game all the home comforts for a long weekend at least...
