Last weekend hubby set up our new satellite system and has it set on Sky so I have ordered a viewing card in order to get as many channels as possible. The thing is I don't think this will include any sports channels and as this is the main cricket, F1 and also football world cup season we would like to know if there is a satellite that we could get onto that will include a sports channel.
being connected to the telephoned system only means that you can do things like vote for xfactor, buy movies etc. We have never had the phone connected to our sky - disconnected it the minute the installer left (don't tell anyone though, youre not supposed to do this) as we didn't want the kids buying movies/voting etc without our say-so - not that they ever tried as far as I'm aware.
If you have had the box for more than 12 months then you don't need to keep it connected to the phone line (unless you have multiroom, i.e. more than one registered box in the house)
with the sky plus you can watch all your recored programs away as well but if you have only a single LMB and cable you may not record programs when watching another in the van, but dose it matter.
have a go the weekend with the box and your own dish at home.
We are having problems with satellite on site now, OH says that as the new Sky+ box has 2 cables we will need a new different kind of dish, is this the case?

Not a different dish but replace the LNB with a twin LNB (the thing that goes on the end of the satellite dish arm) That way your dish has 2 outputs to connect up to your box. cost about £10.
Thanks, we have a Maxview dish, do you know where we can buy the LNB? OH seems to think the new connections won't work abroad (don't ask me why), any ideas?
