I am just about to buy a new full awning to take to France in the summer, in fact we only use a full awning for the summer holidays to France and the two one week holidays in the UK. The rest of the time we use a porch.

I like the Ventura awnings, the colouring of the Pacific is my favourite but the salesman told me that for hot places such as the two weeks in South France we would be better having the acrylic Atlantic model nd not the polyester Pacific?

That would not be a problem as it is slightly cheaper, but I prefer the colour of the Pacific being blue and stone as opposed to blue and light blue of the Atlantic.

Can anyone tell me who has a Polyester awnning, if for the two weeks in France would I notice it particularly hotter inside a Pacific? With the different amount of makes and models on the market using polyester as well, including Isabella which are connected I believe to Ventura, there must be plenty of both types being used on the continent for holidays.

Thanks

I'm not sure why the salesman would suggest acrylic is better for hotter weather. We had an old trailer tent with good quality thick canvas (polyester??) and that soon got very hot if we didn't ventilate well. We have now changed to a van and our awning gets just as hot until we open vents and unzip doors etc. so I'd be surprised if the fabric made much of a difference....

We liked the Ventura awnings as well but in the end decided on a Dorema, direct from the factory at half the price because we're only going to use it 3 or 4 times a year.  Its made with Tencate (coated polyester or acrylic?) and claims to be extremely waterproof and suitable for all seasons.  No problems with it so far, although we had condensation dripping off the roof when we were away in the snow at Christmas...not sure if you get that with all fabrics.
