I seem to remember that there was a similar topic on here some time ago.

Think I read that you must remove the mirrors when not towing.

Do agree its a bit of a pain especially if you are only going 'solo' for a short time.

It takes me less than 2 minutes to fit my towing mirrors, how much of a pain is that?

They have to be removed if you are not towing.  What the law actually prescribes is that cars have to have mirrors which must not extend more than a certain length beyond the widest part of the car. So if you have the towing mirrors on you exceed the maximum length for mirrors. (Regulation 33 of the Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986 (as amended))

Anyway, taking off the mirrors gives you something to do whilst waiting for the wife to get ready.

No mate. Changing towing mirrors is just of hundreds of jobs I find to do whilst I wait. Usually change the oil in the car and swop all the wheels round as well!!

You do have to remove them.  Mine fit on an arm that clips on the main mirror, so if you always put it on in the same place, you don't have to adjust them at all.  We fit both mirrors in two minutes, and take them off in ablut half a minute.
