Have been reading various threads about mattress toppers & was wondering if anyone had one from Ikea. Seen a single one on their website for about £35 (200cm x 80cm x 4cm).
we have made up a duvet cover style thing as well with the topper in it, so when we make up our bed we just need to open this out and tuck in at the top and bottom.
they dont add much extra in the way of comfort, but do provide an extra layer of protection and warmth.
We had the thickest one on our old bed and it did improve the comfort. Looked at the thin ones for the caravan but decided they were too big when rolled up. We went for 1" memory foam with the zipped sheets instead, though they were a lot more expensive!
We have a Dunelm Mill double (£120) on our 'van bed. We used it for the first 10 nights at Easter and found it very comfortable and definitely worth having. It's quite thick but we put it in a double duvet cover and use that instead of a sheet.
It now takes both of us to make/remake the bed, rather than one previously. We have worked out a routine to enable us to manage rolling/unrolling topper, moving cushions, etc.!!!
It's quite big to store but we store it rolled-up, in its duvet cover, and secured with 3 home-made wide elastic straps which we tie around it. When rolled up in this way it fits in the large front underseat locker, via the lift up lid. The duvet fits in their too but it's a tight fit and we now have to keep the pillows in the other locker. I have read of others keeping the topper in the shower during the day!!
We have silentnight ones in our van from T.J.Hughes. We bought a double at half price (£59.99) and cut it down the middle. They are a perfect fit and we leave them on as we cover the seats with a fleece. (We have a dog) Its certainly made a difference as the van is 15 years old and the seats were beginning to sag a little. We do find that they are better without protective covers on as without the fleece cover clings and never moves. We are very pleased.
