Hi!
Whilst away last weekend, and coping with pouring rain, we tried to use the microwave fitted as standard in our Pageant Bretagen (2007, so not quite 3 yrs old).

Oddly, the light came on and the plate went round, but it didn't heat the food. We tried it several times, without success. A phone call to our local dealer confirmed that it was out of warranty, and that we would need a new one. They also suggested that it might be better/cheaper to buy one of our choice, as they are easy enough to remove and refit.

So! Spent an hour in our van removing the microwave, took it home, plugged it in, and blow me down - it worked first time.

Anyone else had this happen? Anyone got any ideas as to why it might have happened?

Confused!

Yes I had the same problem with our previous series 6 Pageant while on site in France , tried it 2 hours later when the electricity demand was lower and it worked fine

Hi Glyn
Our 4 yr old microwave (its an LG) stopped working last week on a small cl we stayed on,same as you light on,plate went round but no heat so we put it down to the oven being caput, haven`t tried it since sounds like it might work on a `proper` power supply. We did trip the main fuse a couple of times (kettle plus 2kw heating ) so hopefully its the site supply although how that would let light come on and plate to turn without the heat ??.
Cheers
Steve

The light and turntable will still operate if the voltage is low but the magnetron (the microwave generater) is particularly sensitive to low volts and will not function properly.

Your dealer is chancing his arm and hoping that you are blissfully ignorant of your rights under SOGA.
The microwave is an integral part of the caravan as it was fitted by the manufacturer so is in a way covered for six years as that is the minimum amount of time you would expect a new caravan to last therefore the microwave as the microwave was incorporated in the price you paid for the caravan and any reasonabler person would expect it to last longer than 3 years, if it was faulty, the dealer woudl need to replace it.
This applies to anything that was part of the caravan purchase and fitted by the manufacturer.
