Hi all, I'm going to look at an Abbey Lancaster c1990 to replace my Adria. I really like the look of the layout etc. Any ideas of what I should be looking for? Do they have any specific problems? I appreciate it's an old van and it won't be mint but I can't really afford to waste money at the moment.
Assuming you already know about damp and damp meter's? We saw a Lancaster when we were looking for our 2nd caravan but i was put off because the locker door to empty the toilet was on the awning side, meaning that if we had an awning up that we'd have to keep that side free and would have to take the toilet out in the awning. Also with the end bed made up there is not a lot of room to get into the toilet. Just my views and they may not worry you...
I liked the kitchen though :)

..... and more damp! If you are buying from a dealer, try and get some extras thrown in e.g. battery, aquaroll, wastemaster, awning, groundsheet, gas bottle etc - you probably won't get the lot but try at least for something. I'm sure others will be able to confirm or otherwise, but I think an electric lead has to be provided (but this might just be with new vans). Check to make sure everything works i.e. water, gas (fire & cooker), toilet. Ask if the van has a spare wheel and where it's kept. Ask for instruction/handbooks (if they have them) and if there is a service history.
