Whilst on our way to a garden centre this afternoon, we stopped at an Adria dealer. We were straight with the salesman and said we weren't in the market as we have a new Sancerre, but he showed us round anyway, as they were quiet.

Were we impressed, or were we impressed? Obviously there's more to consider than just stepping on the van, but build quality and design looked superb and they had some really nifty ideas. I would have been seriously tempted in preference over ours, had we seen it 6 months ago - and when we were looking, Adria never even entered our heads, as we thought they'd gone kaput.

Does anyone own one? Any horror stories about them? Any good bits? Just curious really....

We have purchased a new Adria this year, previously had used vans but always ended up with damp problems (hence buying new so we are covered by a decent warranty).
Too early to comment as it is new but we are absolutely delighted with it so far, as you say build quality is second to none, its really solid (ours has the polyester walls/roof) and generally when we researched all owners (old and new) were really happy with them.
The bunks are huge around 90cm wide (i think most UK vans are 60cm).
They look different but i really like the appearance both inisde and out & feel very happy with our purchase

We have a 2008 Adria altea 542uk, and it is excellent. Roomy, built well and tows like a dream. Both my wife and i enjoy being different and have not seen many adria's outhere.

Would not change it for the world.
happy caravanning all you adria owners.

I also have an Adria Altea 542 DT with the tripple bunks and big wash/shower room.  I find the van fantastic, very spacious and a good build quality. We have only had it since September, and have only used it 3 times since having it but we think that it is just fantastic.

We have a 2005 Adria Altea and we love ours too. Funny isn't it, when we were in the market for a caravan we only wanted an Adria (having seen them some years before when tenting!)

I have a 542 DK and after one FULL season last year (our First)  the van still looks and smells new.  Thats with 7 & 4 years olds boys enjoying it too.

Having never towed anything other than a trailer before last year I have nothing to compare it to but even with my relitivly poorly matched car (94%) it tows like a dream (now I have got to grips with the weights and stuff).

Would higly recommend them to anyone.

Cheers

Ricahrd

We did the same a few months ago and called in at an Adria dealer. We were not impressed. We found them dark, cold and uninviting. Definitely not for us. Good job we are not all the same.

Hi,

we picked a new Altea 542dt up at the end of March & have had 4 trips away so far and absolutely love it.    We had camped in a tent for years but convinced hubby that we "needed" to change to a caravan.  We went to NEC in October, dragged a 7 & 10 year old & unconvinced hubby round all day, looking at all the options.  Within 1/2 hour I'd convinced hubby of layout - fixed bunks! We then looked at Sprite, Bailey etc & didn't think any of them offered what the Adria did in terms of build quality, space, size of the bunks, weight, price etc. By the end of the day at NEC we had paid our deposit & ordered the van.

We have a 542DT (2010) and we also love it. Very well built, very easy to tow . We love the fixed bunks. We would recommend if possible to go for at one more berth than is required. so that you can keep that dinette up as a table rather than having to convert it from a bed to use it. The Adria's
always have wider bunks and dinettes than most other makes. We can fit 5 round our side dinette(1 adults/1 child either side)and I have a stool at the end. It's cosy but useful in morning for breakfast.

We had a 542uk 2008(5 berth) and loved that but had to make up side dinette for 5th bed. This was perfect if you had 4.

One of the previous poster mention them being dark but this is not my experience unless they are talking about one of the previous Adiva's that had a dark wood option

They are nice and bright. Often people describe them as IKEA like(in a nice way)

I am an Adria fan born and bred! My mum and dad had an Adria Optima when I was little, hardly anyone had them in this country then! We bought a Lunar 4 berth to start our caravanning adventures and then we looked at an Altea 542Uk Bunks at the side. We were hooked and bought one after only having the Lunar for 6 months!! We then went to look at the 2010 Altea 542DK (I wish I hadn't) and after several months cooing over it, we bought it. Our 2008 542 DK goes tomorrow, why I don't know the old one was fine, but the new layout is just better, the Krypton factor bed, was beginning to do my head in!!

I love Adria's

Putting me to shame! I picked up my 542dt (my first ever van) at the start of April and have only managed one outing so far (next one due on Friday).

I love mine to bits. I find it light and airy (I think the interior is a bit "IKEA" but I'm fine with that - at least it doesn't have top cupboards which are deeper at the top than the bottom (why on earth do some vans have those - what's the point??)), it's very light (which is great if, like me, you're new to towing) and it was about £4/5k cheaper than any of the equivalents (most of which came with features that I didn't want, like built-in TV aerials).

I really don't understand why they aren't more popular - from what I've read (and from my personal experience) even the dealers seem to be really good.

Cheers,

    Derek.
