Well I got the nod on Saturday that my Peggy has arrived and will be ready to pick up in a week.....wwaaaahhhhhooooo!!!

So now I need to get a hitchlock. The van has the alko 3004.

There are two hitchlocks I have been looking at 1) the alko which matches and fits (not to fussed about matching) or 2) Saracen Fullstop.

The Saracen is half the price of alko, so am I being ripped off or is it not as good a hitchlock. Both seem to have GOLD level sold secure.

Whats the thoughts guys, do I need to take into account my van insurance with either of these ?

Cheers

Hi The ALKO hitchlock is very easy to lever off in 4/5 seconds

I use the Bulldog mini lock also gold level sold secure

.The sarecen fullstop or the Stronghold hitchlocks have the advantage of being able to lower the hitch handle. But they cant be used while travelling like the ALKO hitchlock

at the end of the day none of them take more than 4/5 min to remove by a determined thief

If I were to buy another I would go for the sarecen or stronghold

Just noticed your post and if you are at all interested I have a "spare" saracen fullstop which is brand new that I am looking to sell. The company I bought mine from inadvertently sent me two so it's brand new and boxed.

I think world of camping has them for 39.99 before postage and it looks similiar on ebay. I'd take £30 excluding postage which is about £8.99.

Just thought I'd offer before I chuck on the adverts and ebay. Certainly would save me the fees on ebay.

Really? Never heard that one before. Do you have personal experience of that - have you seen it done? If it's sold as "gold" standard, surely the Sold Secure people should be told.

The Alko lock also has a ball you put in the hitch and there is no  loose parts.

you just drop the lock onto the hitch and line it up with the lugs on the hitch and push the lock in job done and the hitch is all enclosed making it bloody hard/impossible  for someone to get off in a few seconds

Dead easy to use and parts to get lost.

I'm a bit miffed at that one too! I just spent £70 on an alko hitch lock thinking it was one of the best ones!!!

Not quite 4/5 sec but under 3 minutes but that is for the AKS2000 not the AKS3004 but Milenco holds the record with 9 seconds

Oh... all according to the above link
