Just won a Salou awning from Fleabay for £18 !!

The guy i got it from had it stored in his garage for a couple of years, its in great condition & spotless, however it does have that old tent smell, and wandered if it would be easy enough to get rid off without having it valeted?

I have it hung in the garden at the moment airing and gave it a good spray with fabreeze last night, a full bottles worth !

Dont think it was a good idea to spray it with fabreeze , might have damaged the waterproofing. Would think you will have to check that before using .  Airing should help though.

I've had 3 old canvas awnings all have had that old tent smell as you describe. None of which had mould or mildew on them. It don't really bother me that much & after it's been aired for a bit you hardly notice it. Mine generally gets aired when we go away Seriously though for £18 sounds like you've a bargain.

I was amazed when I wont it for £18 myself, it needs a set of pegs and thats it, had it on the van last night perfect fit, i'll just leave it hung out for the week in the garden while the weather is nice :-)

Not sure how old it is but it is in great nick

Funnily enough I was watching Salou awning that was fairly local to me & that only went for £26 I thought about having a bid on it & never. Wish I did now still there's plenty out there. I did get one for a tenner last year although not perfect it did us for the time we used it.
