I never used the club sites , but did use the temporary holiday sites . They have one in school holidays on a caravan site in Gower I like, and its only about £9 a night for the whole family in the C&CC field.
If I booked it direct through the caravan site itself it would cost me nearer £25 a night. so 10 nights for £90 instead of £250.
That in itself more than paid for the membership for me and made it worthwhile being a memeber.
personally I dont think the magazine is great , but I always a had a look through it.
The temporary holiday sites, rallies and weekend meets are a really cheap way of camping or vanning, if you dont mind basic , sometimes no electric or showers etc. but they have pitches from £4 a night, per unit, not per person, on some .
Others are on sites with all facilities available but so much less than booking direct.
It's worth it for me, too, being single and over 55. I can get a pitch on a club site for £9-odd a night including electricity in mid season.
I've got my insurance with them at the moment but, as with all insurances, it's swings and roundabouts - they were cheaper when I bought last year, but are dearer for renewal this year.
It was worth it for us last year as we renewed our foam in the motorhome and as we were members of CC we saved £130 on the job, not so sure about this year yet.
We were with the cc&c for 2 years and only got our money's worth the 1st year. We found booking really difficult and spent our longer holidays on sites that we either knew of or found on the search facility up above. This year we joined the cc as there is a site nearby that we wanted to use and you have to be a member to use it. We have 2 longer holidays booked for this year neither of which is through the clubs. They are on sites with swimming pools so if you are likely to want to the same sort of thing then you may find belonging to a club not worth it. We don't use the smaller 5 pitch sites as i like to go to bigger sites were there are plenty of other kids preferably with a football pitch for ds. And a good play area for my youngest dd. My teenager takes her best friend and they make their own entertainment :)
I hope you find it worth it and don't have too much difficulty booking up sites

We joined for access to the CS's. We like basic, quiet sites and it give us so many more options than we'd have otherwise.
Ditto. In fact we have joined both the CC and the C&CC for this reason.
We are members of the CC and the C&CC. We get our money's worth out of the CC membership (as we use the sites, use the insurance facilies for car and caravan and are a member of the Mayday breakdown facility - when going to Europe we have used their Red Pennant travel insurance). We use C&CC less, and the jury is out as to whether we ought to remain a member. Being in both gives you more options, but if you don't really use the one set of options then it becomes an unnecessary expense, I suppose.
same as above for me, but do spend alot of time travelling around and tend to ge moneys worth also save with being in club when needing to renew recovery , went with mayday. good idea to check the discounts that you get when going to attractions you can save a lot of cash. well some is better than nowt.
------------- If its not broke, dont fix it, and stop nagging
We are members of both clubs & holiday with both organisations (see below!!) & rallying with the C&CC looks like a definite possibility. To us it is worth it, but the CC has 3 sites to my knowledge with swimming pools (Grafham Water, Seacroft & Hillhead).
If you only holiday on those sort of sites, then you could find your choice limited & you may find it less excellent value.
I find the CC breakdown cover good value & it also includes double journey so if the car / van breaksdown on the way to your holiday, they will take you there & then bring you back at the end of the holiday. Normal car breakdown cover is just single journey.
As Gaz says, the days out discounts can also offset the cost of the membership.
