Are you sure they've had it?
I know that the 110 ah battery on my 'van has been fully discharged, and remained that way for some months (the Mother in law unplugged the 'van when she came to stay), and then again recently the fuse blew in the 12V circuit in the 'van, and again I didn't find out about it until I came to move the 'van.
We've charged it up again, and it seems fine every time. Its a conventional Lead acid sealed leisure battery, nothing special.
Give it a try, you might be surprised, they have immense capacity in the first instance, so even if it only take 70% of a charge, its still lots of energy.
