Hi all we have booked a holiday in august in dorset and the pitch has a tv hook up point, inc selected sat channels, i may sound stupid, but how does it work, do we just tune in the tv as normal on the analogue signal/digital ? Tv is a 19 inch flat lcd. Caravan has external aerial point in the front locker, also what will we need too buy. We usually just use the status aerial which is okish depends on where we are etc. To be honest tv never bothers us when we are away, we only take it so we can watch dvds on those rainy days. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
TV hookup points are provided when the signal is not so good when using your inbuilt aerial (status or otherwise). To use them you need to have a coaxial cable that plugs into the socket provided. The other end of this cable then plugs into the back of your TV (fed thru window). Then re-tune your TV as you would normally and Bobs yer Uncle ! We bought a 25m co-axial cable from a Caravan Club site for £13 but you can probably get it cheaper.
Hope this helps,
Shirley.

Basically the site TV connection will supply the signal in the same way as your aerial. You will need a coax lead but you might want to check with the site how long that lead needs to be (or will they loan you one) and whether it has coax of F socket connections if you have to bring your own. On Caravan Club sites they are always coax push on connectors. You then connect the other end of the lead to your TV and tune in accordingly. If you have used your Status aerial in the past and are happy with the results it might be best to stick with it. However a TV hook-up is usually provided when the direct signal is poor.
Just checked and it says they provide lead free of charge, can this be connected too the external point in the front locker, or does it need to go direct too tv through window ?
Thanks, we never even noticed it was there until today lol ,had the van 8 months (we caravan newbies) traced the cable and its under the seat by the water heater, socket looks a bit tired so might just replace it with a new one and some new cable which we have a few spare metres floating about :)
