I have a 2005 Elddis Crusader with a 3-way Dometic fridge. It works fine on 240v but this weekend just gone was the first time I have run it on gas since I bought it from the dealer last year and it doesn't seem anywhere near as cold as when it is run on mains. The fridge lights OK, you can hear the 'pop' as it lights and the light stays amber (surprisingly, in the book it says that amber means it's lit, I've always thought of amber as being a warning).
The van was level both ways according to a spirit level on the floor.
Usually, the gas is turned to 'Low' when you light it - did you remember to turn it to 'high' or if numbers, 1 to start, 3 to cool down.
After it's cool, turn it down again.
This last weekend was a scorcher! Are you sure it wasn't just the heat inside the 'van that was making it work extra hard, or was somone constantly in and out of it, thereby highering the temp?

We've always found gas a lot more efficient than electric, when cooling the fridge. I'm sure one or two use gas to cool it down initially and then use electic to maintain the temperature.
Yes I did turn the knob right away round to max. The freezer compartment was reasonably cold but the rest of the fridge was only just cool. I agree that the weekend was hot so maybe I'm being unfair, but when we got home on Sunday afternoon the inside of my home fridge was a LOT cooler than the inside of the caravan fridge had been.
There's only the two of us and apart from rescuing the odd 'cool' beer from the fridge, it hadn't been opened much.
It may be the fridge is faulty, my parents have just had the same problem but in reverse, it got cold on electricity but only cool on gas, they contacted the dealer and it had to go back to be fixed. It now runs equally cold on both.
No, it's the same way round. Cold on elec but cool on gas. I think I might contact the dealer since it still is under the year's warranty I got with it.
