There are members on here who had every gold rated security device under the sun but still had their vans stolen, some of them from under bedroom windows in the night.
You have made the right choice getting it insured, have fun!
when i brought the van it had nothing at all on it so i spent a small fortune over the last few days updating the security on it like a top of the range hitch lock, wheel clamp, alarm etc plus im waiting for cris to send me a form to fill in to register the van with them (and have some electronic tag put in and the windows etched).
All of the above will take a thief about 10 mins in total to remove and have your van away. There is a youtube video somewhere of some thief's in action being filmed by a security cam.

I have 2 wheel locks (twin axel) and a hitch lock to cover my insurance as required by them, however i view my insurance as more important that any security device.

I have just phoned CRIS about registering my van as it hasn't been registered due to being foreign. Because it is foreign built they wanted £36.25. I can't see it being worth registering. Rather then have the van back,a long way down the line, I would rather have the insurance money. It has a chassis nmber to identify it.
It would give me a document for when I come to sell it, but I hope that is going to be many years away.
Tags and chips won't stop any theft. As CRIS pointed out themselves and has been mentioned by people on here, it is only when someone tries to check the CRIS registration on the van they have bought that they highlight the fact the van is stolen.
I have plenty of piece of mind knowing the van is insured.
