I am currently looking to change my gas supplier to Calor and am looking at the 6kg Prop bottle. However i have noticed that Calor now do a "Calor Lite" aimed at Caravaners and i am now looking to get this. I am a little worried however at the number of outlets/sites will be able to exchange the "Calor Lite".

Does anyone else have these bottles and if so are there many outlets to exchange? Do many sites have the facility to change "lite" bottles?

I did monitor it before making the move and in England it did seem pretty common in retail outlets but a bit less so on sites. For now I'm still carrying a smaller 3.9 propane bottle as a back up, on weighing both bottles full I found the 6 lite bottle was only 1lb heavier, so will be looking in time to fully convert.

We have carried 2 Calor Lites for nearly a year now and have had no problem exchanging them at our local dealer. As we have 2 we never need to exchange them anywhere else as we never run out.

We have used Calor Lite from not long after it came out. Here in MK I have a choice of a caravan dealer and a hardware shop that sells refills so as yet never had a problem. I also carry two cylinders so it would be unusual to be caught out.

We use the calorlite bottles and have not had any problem with exchanging, we also have 2 bottles and usually replace as soon as empty, I know our local caravan dealers (Discover and Ropers) both stock calorlite bottles, so if anyone is in my area this should not be a problem.

We're on Calor lite. We've had no problem, most sites seem to have them, our local hardware store usually has them. I have rung ahead to check if the guage has been reading low before we hitch up.

Because they have a built in guage, you don't have to have 2 full ones on board, only refill when the gauge indicates that you might be a bit low for your next trip.

HOWEVER, I have noticed that some dealers are a bit chairy about swapping lites/normals and blues. (I prefer a blue one in summer) but if the store knows you, they can overlook the rules, it seems.

thing is i do not want to go back to heavy bottles again,if you only have one bottle and if you do not have a light one to exchange this may be the only option.even our main dealer was not happy to change old for new type.

Read this on the Calor site earlier in the week which I found very interesting!

We have invested in thousands more Calor Lite cylinders and these are being introduced throughout the season to try and keep up with the high demand. However, as you will understand, these are being delivered to existing Calor Lite stockists first and this has resulted in our not being able to extend the network as quickly as we would like.  In addition we will continue to offer a free exchange for existing Calor cylinder holders to the Calor Lite bottle, but limited to customers who already have a Calor 6kg or 7kg cylinder. This will allow us to manage stock numbers more effectively and fulfil orders for existing Calor Lite customers."

 hi, we recently bought a second calor lite bottle as we bought a cadac as well and i did'nt fancy having to keep taking the regulator off. We dont use the oven or cooker in the van much as we tend to use electric more but now we have the cadac we tend to use that more than anything. We've just had a week away and only cooked on the cadac and the indicator on the gas bottle hardly seems to have moved and we;ve had the bottle god knows how long lol, every site we've been on have had calor lite . hope it helps .
