I've been using this charger now for a while & I was wondering if it's possible to wire up into my van permanently so it can trickle charge while on EHU. As mine is a folder space is quite limited. All it will be running off the battery is a couple of lights & a water pump. I do have a proper unit from a caravan I broke for spares but it's a bit bulky plus I'd only be using the charging part of the circuit anyway. This is very similar to the type of charger I have.
That looks just the job! Anyone know if they are still available? And how much?
I was thinking of doing something similar myself... connecting permanently to leisure battery and feed an extension thru into the van to plug in and charge whilst on EHU. Wondered if this was powerful enough for that. I know some chargers take 60+ hours to charge a battery, but around 4 amps is ok for a top up. I think. ???

It would be OK for the power consumption you describe but the only issue with the the Aldi/Lidl chargers are that they reset back to standby when there is a loss of mains and therefore you will have to remember to set it again when on site and after a power outage. The Ctek versions remember their setting on loss of mains and resume as soon as the mains is back on without and human intervention. I would go the Ctek for the sake of another £30.
I think the Aldi/Lidl chargers are great for at home. I leave mine on all over the winter.
I don't know if they have any more in yet but I brought mine last year for around a tenner my local Aldi were just selling them off cheap. I'm sure they will have more in though.
The one in the pic is from Lidl, I bought one from Aldi about three years ago and over the winter months I used to alternate between my leisure battery and my motorbike battery. Last year when they had then in again I bought another, think it wsas £11.99 or £12.99 so over last winter I had one connected to my bike and the other on the bench with my leisure battery. Usually in about every six months or so, well worth buying. some ay it has no reset facility so is that the only difference to the £30.00+ chargers.
Cheers guys I might just wire in in as a permanent fixture as it takes up much less space. The picture I got was one off the towsure site as I couldn't find any for the Aldi ones but they are very similar.
The only other question I have is would I need to disconnect it off the battery when not in use? As I'm thinking it would drain some power out of the battery.
hi there! regarding the aldi item you mention and i being a store assistant at aldi can let you know that we've just had the caravan stuff in and they wasnt in but we may have more caravan and camping stuff in in a few weeks, just check on th website www.ALDI.com every couple of weeks and if they are to come in then you will see them, but be warned that you have to get there the day they are due in as when they are gone, they are gone!
