I took the van out for the first time last weekend , and on visiting the storage today to do a repair, I 've found about a dozen ants , now I've had the van since Oct last year and never seen a one in there , I searched high and low to see if there was a place where they were coming in but ,could'nt find any where ! I got rid of those that were there and did my repairs which took about an hour and half and I did'nt see any more . The only thing I can think of was when I packed the awning and poles away I left the bags on the ground for an hour or so while I did everthing else that needed doing, could that be the answer ? I'm hoping it is ! I dont like the Idea of them being about.

Had the same myself this year. I had cleaned out the van thoroughly but they still got in for something. I sprinkled some ant killer powder along the bottom recess of the door frame and the next morning there were none in the van at all and a few dead ones amongst the powder. Certainly did the trick and put off any newcomers!

We had this happen once in France. Pulled over at a Service Station on the M/Way for a night's sleep. Next morning ants in the van they'd crawled up on the outside of one of the pipes that came into the van in the bottom kitchen cupboard, from underneath the van. Didn't take long to get rid of them but we had to check absolutely everywhere, just in case. We now always carry any powder + spray in the van. I think parts of Provence is built upon an ant hill.

i have ants at home,i put powder round the legs and jockey wheel and it works.only found them in the van once.also round any chains going to the van.

We had a terrible ant situation in france - not only did the little bleeders get in the caravan, but they also got in the car, which was virtually impossible to eliminate. Took us nearly a year to totally get rid of them from the car, but the van was easier down to industrial amounts of ant powder!!!!

Once had to plug all vents and pipe holes to stop hundreds of midges from coming in. Was not pleasant. Not a good idea long term as it affects condensation in the van though.

We also had trouble with ants in France, woke up and found we were sharing our bed with 50 ants. We were lucky managed to get rid of them and had a bed free ant for the rest of the hols. Now we put extra ant powder around the jockey wheel and legs.

We always carry ant powder with us too - goes back to our tent days when we had problems on 'sandy' ground!

read somewhere that ants hate salt so being cheap i have put loads down as well as the powder.

im a bit wary about using the powder stuff for ants indoors...but what we did use in our old caravan when we had an army of ants was Nippon Gel...i placed it on a few bits of card all round van and i caught 1000's lol... powder i think is best for outdoor use... and that i sprinkle around the legs...they love marching up them you see!!
