We have just got back from our first 2 1/2 days at Woodland Caravan Park, Snelston as found in UK Campsite search Woodland
We were giving our previously owned Elddis a test run so we were expecting a few hitches. But without this gentleman and his A1***** service I would have not known what to do
First was that I reversed over a rock peg (somebody missing one? Its in my draw in the caravan) Result one very badly deflated caravan tyre
Supplied us with a local map and we went about 2 miles up the road to get a replacement.
Very good price too.
Lights inside the Caravan died during Thursday Night - so thought the battery had life expired. Went back to same garage a brought a new leisure battery. That would not work the lights either.
Organised a sparky for us who came to visit us at the site and he found that we had blown 2 fuses, possibly the influx of stronger electrics ( he did explain but I am female you know) Fred Brown got all the lights working and told us the reason things were suddenly going dark on us was due to failure of the charger (Zig) But with the power of the new battery we would be fine over night and still have enough power for another weekend too.
Without the help of such an oustanding Site Owner what was actually a very smooth learning curve could have turned into our hatered of something that had not yet started.
Anyway to cut this drama short. Thanks Charles at Woodland Caravan Park Lovely site Fantastic Service, beyond the call of lesser site owners/managers
Hi karennjames, Nice baptisim ,Caravaning is great aint it,Glad to see it has'nt put you off caravaning and your weekend, with a van you learn something new every time you have a problem, and gives you some good stories to tell, good luck on your next trip.
------------- If everything runs smoothly then I must have done something wrong
If in Doubt Check it Out.
Good to hear such positive feedback on a site. Incidentally, if you used EHU did you turn the power off (using the mains isolating switch on the main control board) before connecting to the EHU? If not that may possibly account for the fuses going. Always handy to carry a supply of extra fuses.
You will find that you will always be learning, so just enjoy it.
Have fun
Phil

I don't understand people who don't "walk the pitch" when they are leaving a site, had that been done it is highly likely the offending rock peg wouldn't have been there and saved you the expense of a new tyre.
It only takes a minute to "walk" and you never know you might find something you should have packed.

I have three sides, left, right and wrong - which one are you on?
