Big power users are electic heating (2, 4 or 8A), kettle (10A), toaster (8A), hair dryer (10 -15A). Things like TVs (0.25A) and lights are minimal and can be ignored.

Site electrics come in 6A, 10A or 16A. On 6A you may not be able to use some of the larger things. On 10A you can use most but only one at a time. On 16A you have a bit more freedom and can use a kettle and electric heating as long as the heater is on low.

If you overload it, a circuit breaker will trip. This will usually be the breaker in the site EHU and you can usually reset it easily So experiment to see what you can get away with.

Circuit breakers don't trip as soon as you go a little over the rated current. They will hold in for a short time, say long enough to boil a kettle, Some circuit breakers are better at this than others, it depends what the site uses.

We also use normal domestic appliances without a problem. On low amp sites (less than 10 amp) we work on the principal of "one on one off" although lighting & tv's generally are ok being left on. Fridge also doesn't cause a problem.

10amp & above you are generally ok with a couple of high power appliances. Microwaves do use a lot in the initial power surge and we don't bother to take one any more. They are so heavy and bulky anyway.
