Hi all

Have been sorting caravan for hols and whilst flushing water system discovered a leak around the element seal on the heater, being an engineer have dismantled it to replace the seal and found that inside is corroded and the paint is peeling off it is also full of a grey/black sludge. Obviously it will need changing but can't afford the 400quid shops are asking for a new unit.

Is there anywhere I can get a new housing and seals from as gas and electric work fine so can swop bits over

cheers for any help

Propex supply the spares, they certainly have seals but don't know if they do complete castings?

I clean off the casting and coat mating surfaces with two pack epoxy glue, rubbed well in with a finger

Have spoken to Propex, they are sending me the two halves of the tank all the seals and new screws/bolts so can now rebuild water heater

costing me £150 its cheaper than a new unit and cheaper than breakers wanted, most of them wanted £200+

happier now hopefully get it all back up and running before thurs going away fri, got a backup up plan of just connecting cold inlet and hot outlet together so can have running water and go back to old fashioned way of boiling kettle to have a wash/shave

Cheers for the help guys much appreciated
