Hi - we're away in a few weeks with some family coming with us too. We have a Sunncamp 390 awning we use in the summer, also have a 260. Is it possible/legal to put up both at same time, it have one on the other side of the van? Would make a nice private bedroom for the visitors.
I can't see how it can't be legal, but the problem you will have is the size of footprint permitted on the site.
Like everything in this life, everything has a price.
------------- I'm not as old as my [fake user] name suggests.

we have done exactly as you have suggested using our sunncamp 260 on the "back" of the caravan.
I think that it all depends on the site, how flexible they are and the size of the pitch. When we did it we had a huge pitch so not a problem and did not interfere with anyone else.
Is it actually any different from adding an annex at each end of a conventional awning ?
The only legal issue I can think of is the distance between your outfit and any adjoining one (fire regulations). Best to give the site a call and explain what you are thinking of, sometimes they have a few bigger pitches and some smaller ones too (!) and if you call ahead might try and accomodate you better.
I've seen vans with awnings both sides on a CC&c site THS , they only ask you to space yourself 6 m away from all other units ,and dont mind if you put up pup tents as well, so so if its a spacious site with no restrictions you should be okay.
