hi jcg900, I agree with jimbouk it is first class. But if you are on a budget, approx. 1 mile north of Scots.Corner is a lorry stop,a bit rough & ready but cheap the last time we used it 2 years ago.Sorry cant remember the name,it is on the south bound side of the A1,accessible north & south.

all the best andy

Agree, Wetherby every time. Easy to get in and out, big caravan bays. Plenty of choice for food and drink - M&S have a good take away food section either for drinks and sandwiches, or to top up the fridge with something for supper.

Excellent toilet facilities, spotlessly clean even with the large number of people they get through there.

Costa coffee available, although at almost £9 for three coffees, we will be brewing our own next time!

There is a service station at Scotch Corner itself, take sliproad off for A66, turn right at the roundabout service station 50m on your left, usual stuff Burger King, Costa etc, plenty space for caravans,

They have just extended the number of caravan bays at Wetherby. Building just 6 to start with was a bit silly.

And I bet you thought the name Costa came from Costa Rica

To be quite honest I couldn't brew my own cus I seem to be addicted to the stuff

Personaly I'd drive Nottingham - Seahouses in one go. Can't be more than 4 hours. If you do want to stop off what about the Whitewater site at Stockton just off the A19 which is probably a couple of hours or so from Nottingham leaving an hour and a half or so to go to Seahouses.

We like Weatherby too, not keen on Scotch Corner its difficult (unless they have inmproved it ) to find caravan area following painted road signs, and would never go to Leaming again!

Just watch the time you stop at Weatherby only two hours and its an automatic number recognition system

pull off at Scotch corner but instead of going into Scotch corner go along the A66 west. A couple of hundred yards up pull into Sedbury layby. Its absolutly huge. Plenty of room for you to park with the caravan attached. Lovely home cooked food at the kisok and very reasonable prices. Clean loos and a nice picnic area. When you come out you do have to continue west but about 1/2 mile up you can turn right and swing back onto the east A66 to get back on the A1. The road is dual carrigeway at this point and there is more than enough room to do this with the caravan attached

There's a caravan club site virtually overlooking the motorway at Scotch Corner, infinately preferable to services or Sedbury layby. Failing that, try Quernhow Cafe, legendary breakfasts and what appears to be a secure caravan site, but I've never looked over the gate to be sure of it.

Nice destination, v jealous.
