Look at Stackemhigh, they have an ebay shop. Recently bought 2 dog cages from them, one for home and a slightly smaller one for the car/caravan. Plenty big enough for our labrador. She is 8 months now, but we took her on her first trip back at Easter. She slept in her cage in the awning. We covered it with a blanket to keep out any draughts (bit cooler back then). Also have an electric heater with thermastat that we left on all night for her.
First thing we did when we arrived was sort out the nearers access to the doggie walk. (Its no longer get set up and the get the kettle on!) We've got a long lead and a corkscrew dog tether that we put in the ground. She was good as gold. We let her sit in her soft bed in the van of an evening until bed time. She was so knackered from all the walks she got that she was happy to settle down and go to sleep.
Don't think we would ever leave her in the van alone, never know what might happen - theft, fire, whining and annoying the neighbours. Our caravan holidays are for the whole family including her, hence next trip out is to the New Forest in the summer hols.

Before you spend money on a dog crate, I suggest you buy a book on how to look after your dog. This will explain how to introduce him/her to being crated.
3 weeks is just about enough time to get her used to using and feeling safe in her crate although some dogs take longer and some will never accept a crate.
Each of our dogs was caravanning as soon as they had had their final injections and were allowed to mix with other dogs. They have never been crated on a campsite although we did use the crate in the house for a while.
"Toilet accidents" will happen with any puppy and it is something you will need to be aware of and how best to deal with them. Our breed, the Bichon Frise are notorious for being difficult to housetrain and I know of a few that are 3+ years old and have still not got the hang of it. However that IMO that has more to do with owners that were too intelligent to need to read any books on the subject.
Dogs of any age, love the sights, sounds and smells that they experience on a campsite and ofcourse the new places they visit when touring in a new area. As long as we are aware that things look different when you are only 6 or 8 inches high and that certain other animals, IE Rabbits are not put their exclusively for their entertainment, then I am sure that both you and puppy will have a wonderful trip and she will be much admired by the oher campsite users.

I took my two pups away at easter and it was easy, we have a large end bathroom so We put paper down in there in case of accidents and then slid the folded camp table on its side in front of the door (a bit like a short stable door) at night time, they were fine, but our bathroom is very large and the pups are only Chihahuahus........Oh and I would reccomend taking some puppy stop chew with you...... our pups decided the bottom of the door frame was good to chew lol
Hi Kan - what a fab idea!! We've got an end bathroom will give that a go.
We pick up our pug puppy girl (Princess Betty-Boop) or just Betty to her friends this Sunday. We go away for a long weekend the following Friday so she will get her 1st taste of caravan life very soon. She will only just've had her 1st injection so she will be carried everywhere - bless, then she's away again 13th Aug for another long weeked and the end of August to Barmouth for a week - when she will be able to go on her lead for the 1st time! My daughter who's 9 is very very very excited.
