We are thinking about getting a table and chair set to use in the awning, or outside the van/awning. There are 3 of us, me, OH and our 11 yr old grandson. We have already got one of those plastic camping bench sets from our camping days, however, its not really any good as our bums are really to big for the seats!!, we also have the folding camping chairs, but we would really like a set, we have seen a couple we like but they have been too heavy, they have been more suitable for home use.
What do you use and what do you recommend?
Thanks in advance caris
Hi Caris. I woulod say that one thing you particularly need to pay attention to is the chair-to-table height measurements for your Grandson.
Our lad (now 13) tended to find that most camping chairs left him sat too low down for eating and a lot of the folding lightweight alu camping tables have criss-cross bars/spars underneath which prevent you from drawing a chair up really close to the table. Not much fun being too low and too far from the table and then knocking into the bars/spars every time you try to sit down/stand up - tipping over everying on the table!
We have eventually settled on a square alu camping table, which has tubular legs which screw into each corner (so all four sides of the table have full knee room). The table legs can be adjusted slightly for uneven ground. The table folds in half and has a carrying handle (like a suitcase) and the legs are stored in clips under the table top. We chose some very light Lafuma alu chairs - which happened to have seats which were slightly higher than other leisure chairs.
