hello fellow caravanners!

We recently looked at one and got very excited. Our friends have the Quasar 615 twin axel version same layout which we think is the layout we would like next. Our friend came and looked at it and pointed out that the space you lose in the 546 is in the length of the fixed bunks. As a result we looked at the length of them and have now ruled it out as our boys are only 12 and 11 and the eldest one will soon be too long or tall to fit comfortably on the bunk. We looked at the Sterling Europa version and the bunks in that are longer so we will probably go for that. We also have a Sterling now which has been great since we got it new in 2007. Hope this is a bit of help. We did like the Lunar

We've got the Bailey Ranger which is 7ft 2" wide.  We used to have a 7ft wide 'van and can't really feel the difference.  When someone is at the sink and someone wants to come past its a bit of a squeeze but manageable lol.

We love the versatility of the 3 bunks room.  We use the bottom bunk for the dogs to sleep under (the bed lifts up and lays along the wall)

It's a good idea to keep going and look at it and working out how it will all work for your family.  I used to go and look at mine and work out where i was going to put everything and whether it would fit or where it would fit :)

My dh used to hate me going to look at new 'vans on the market because he thought i'd want a newer one but as soon as i saw the GT60 i knew she was the one :) and she still is :)

When the kids want to bring friends they can because there is plenty of beds to accomadate them :)

We have the 2010 Lunar Quasar 546 and absolutely love it. We looked at a few triple bunk models and knew this was the one for us as it had a more open and bright feel to it than all the rest we looked at. Some of the rear bunk/dining areas felt dark and too shut-off from the rest of the space for us.

It is light and easy to tow as well as having a spacious front lounge and rear diner. The long front lounge also means if you don't fancy manking any beds up at night (too tired!) you can use them as two singles.  We don't use all three bunks so use the bottom bunk for storage. The fact that this storage area can be shut off and easily accessed both externally or internally is a bonus for us. The separate shower in such a light caravan was also one of the reasons we chose the Lunar. I was surprised how good the shower was - better than some on site!

We haven't found it to be too narrow and our toddler can run up and down whilst I am preparing food in the kitchen quite happily. The only alteration we did have to make ourselves was to add a piece of wood to the middle bunk to make it safer for my two year old as there was no guard there.

Happy looking, and I hope you find the caravan that's right for you!

I have to say I agree with this about the finish - the first version of the 546 (2009) which I know didn't suit everyone because of the shorter front bunks seemed much more superior & sturdier to the 2010.  The Europa/Swifts don't have separate shower cubicles though do they? Is it the wet room washroom with a shower screen or am I mistaken - thats the dealbreaker for us as although we will use mostly site facilities I'd prefer to have a separate shower cubicle for flexibility.

We looked at the 09 model and found the front bed too small with the chest in place (moving it each night would be too much of a pain in or opinion). Can't comment on that issue of the 2010 vans.

However re the width it does make the overhead lockers much smaller than Bailey ones.

Hi holiday-kate

We picked up our 2010 Lunar Quasar 546 on Friday and are absolutely delighted. We went away Friday and Saturday nights and loved the spacious open feel. The finish inside was excellent.

We had a couple of extra items to make life a little easier, an extra socket over the work space so that you could have kettle and toaster plugged in and also 2 extra spot lights in the front lounge (the kitchen/wardrobe end) just so that if you are reading you can easily see what it is.

All in all a brilliant van and we looked at all of the other fixed bunk models and still know we've made the right choice. If you need extra living space then consider and awning, we bought the Kampa Rally 260 which took 30 mins to put up (first time hoping that this will come down to about 15 next time).

Can't wait for our next holiday and our 4 yr old son is super excited about having one. Towing was brilliant and was suprised how much stuff we could store inside without creating an issue with weight.

All the best in convincing your other half.

The Lunar 546 can be ordered with an "L" shaped lounge which would make the lounge more spacious. Seperate shower for me would be the clincher.
